Artisan cheese maker Lyndall Dykes will guide you through the simple steps of making your own cheese at home, including three special cheeses, inspired by iconic locations on The Tweed.

Learn how to make Camembert ‘Coolangatta Camembert’, Fetta ‘Fingal Fetta’, Quark (Cream Cheese) ‘Kirra Quark’, Mascarpone & Greek Style Yoghurt. After the one day workshop we guarantee you will be able to make all these delicious cheeses in your own home!

You can choose from two, day-long soft cheesemaking workshops on Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th November. The workshops run from 10am – 4pm, are 100% hands-on, informative and lots of fun! Morning tea, lunch and plenty of cheese tastings are provided as well as take-home notes and cheese samples.

Due to popular demand we will be running this very informative workshop again. Cruiser has worked for many years in the music industry on an international and national level. His knowledge extends from touring guitar tech to stage management and is highly educated in intricate guitar repairs. As a luthier and in house guitar Tech for Tweed Creative Studios, Cruiser is well versed in the art of guitar maintenance. Bring your instrument and pen and paper $30. You will receive a maintenance kit. And Light refreshments. It is vital that students arrive on time for this workshop as information won’t be repeated.

In this dynamic three hour workshop, Song-writer and Performer Rob Yeatman (Byron Community College, Mitchell Cons. NSW) will teach you how to transform your ideas into fully developed songs. Rob will reveal the secrets that successful song-writers regularly use to write hit songs. Come along for an enjoyable afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere. All welcome regardless of style or musical experience. All participants will receive a free course-book and supporting CD. Includes light refreshments

Ghanian born Ago lives by his motto “MUSIC IS SOUL FOOD LETS ENJOY THE MUSIC AND FEEL HAPPY” and this is evident whenever he performs or teaches- both of which he does with gusto, skill and passion. A master drummer and percussionist adept on Djembe, Kpanlogo, Gome, Xylophone, Asalato, Flute and various talking drums. Ago takes pleasure in sharing insights into his culture and teaching the traditional rhythms handed down to him by the elder masters in his community. He has held the position of lead drummer in several cultural groups in Ghana, Toured Australia extensively over the last eight years with Wala, and is highly sought after as a performer and teacher in Ghana, Hong Kong and Australia

This September Hearts Aflame Productions brings you the Tyalgum Dance Spectacular for 2014. A glittering display of some of Australia’s finest Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue dancers will perform a one night only event showcasing a series of fabulous dances from each of their respective styles. This year’s event will be hosted by former judge of Channel 7’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’, Mark Wilson, and will also feature a special musical performance by operatic soprano Liza Beamish.

This year’s dancers are a fantastic line-up, including International Ballroom competitors Rhett Salmon and Emma Lee, we also welcome the return of one of Australia’s undefeated New Vogue champions Jarrod & Jayne Dawson, and the ever popular Latin American bracket presented by one of Queensland’s top competitors Demitri Perera and Kimberley Biggs.

Step back in time and view the 3 day show ‘n shine featuring hot rods, custom cars and classic cars built through to 1985. Chat to passionate car enthusiasts and the owners of your favorite vintage vehicles.

 

The Show n Shine trophies will be awarded in the following categories :

’70’s – ’85 (built after  31st December 1969 and before 1st January 1985)

Pre 70’s (all cars built pre January 1st 1970)

Club Cars (if you wish to enter your car with your club)

Join our community as we come together to sing and celebrate in the joy and spirit of Christmas on Saturday 13 December 2014 at 6pm DST. This year’s Carols will be hosted by two fabulous personalities to be finalized in coming months. Also on offer in Central Park will be some fun food options as well as amusement rides and games.

The family fun will continue on Sunday 14 December with all day entertainment and fun, with children’s activities, market stalls, amusements and games.

Why not celebrate Australia Day in one of the best parts of Australia…the Tweed!

The tweed region holds a array of activities to celebrate Australia Day.

Some of the organised locations and activities include:

– Tyalgum will start with their traditional street parade, followed by  traditional cricket match which will be played at Bruce Bartrim Oval and the day’s final event will be the Tyalgum Cup Cycle race starting in front of Tyalgum Store.

–  Pottsville will hold a family and community fun and games day. Pottsville Beach Sports Club will also host a number of family oriented events culminating in an award presentation at the end of the day’s proceedings.

– Tweed Heads’ Chris Cunningham Park will be the location for a number of special community events featuring a range of activities for kids of all ages.

– Lions Park at Marine Pde in Kingscliff will host the annual Kingscliff Lions Club Australia Day Aussie Breakfast and flag raising ceremony.

– Tumbulgum will host the town’s annual barbecue breakfast, flag raising, award presentation and entertainment at Brian Breckenridge Field.

Kingscliff Triathlon

Kingscliff Triathlon

Event promoters QSMSports will stage the 11th edition of the Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Multisport Weekend on 14 and 15 February 2015. The two-day event will take place on the beachside of Kingscliff and entries are now open.

There are twelve event categories on offer to cater for everyone, no matter age or fitness level. Tempta and Sprint distances are perfect for those who are not quite ready to tackle the full Olympic distance. Participants can also choose to only compete in one leg in the Olympic or Sprint Relays.

The popular ‘5km Fun Run’ and the ‘62km Social Ride’ will be held on the first day (Saturday 22 November), and welcomes both experienced runners and beginners. The title gives it away… it’s all about having fun, and enjoying the great atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

The ‘Kingy Tri’ caters for kids too, with two activities for children between the ages of 7 and 12. All kids will receive a participation medal and event t-shirt for their efforts.

Come and Join us on Sunday 15 March 2015 !

The Tweed Coast Enduro offers racing: on a long course 1.9km swim / 90km cycle / 21.1km run for individuals in social (entry level) or competitive age groups; and teams in either the tag or group of mates format. Then the Junior, Big Kids and Cadet Aquathons offer a community activity over varying distances on the run, swim, run format.

We would love you to be apart of our first ever long distance event. Its ideal for athletes looking for a hit out at the start of the competition season as it’s the only event of its kind -offered in the first half of the year. The fast, flat course is a also a great opportunity for first time (entry level) competitors to try an endurance challenge .
