Heres what one of the riders said: As a MTB rider who likes to do a few races, this is exactly what I am looking for in a race; Great course; Fun racing; Friendly, happy people, beautiful location; awesome food and quick presentations!

Race inside a volcano! The Misty Mountain MTB Marathon (Inter-action Outward Bound base) private property is inside the magnificent Wollumbin (Mt Warning) volcanic caldera. This stunning area encompasses the massive 20 million year old shield volcano with surrounding views of the outer rim in every direction. From this area you can clearly see the impressive 600m high crater wall reaching up into the Border Ranges National Park.

Inter-action Outward Bound base is just 1hrs/2hrs south of the Gold Coast/Brisbane. This course is challenging, fast and fun! 9ks of single track on every loop!

Open to riders 12yrs and above. (Its recommended that 12year olds ride the 20k) Please note: 12 – 16yrs may only enter the 40k and 20k event. 17yrs+ can enter the 60k/40k/20k.

The Magic Flute- Opera Australia’s Regional Tour 2014

Prepare to be enchanted, when this exciting new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute comes to Murwillumbah Civic Centre for one special performance.

Opera Australia is touring to Murwillumbah for the very first time this August. They bring with them a fully staged realisation of Mozart’s masterpiece featuring Opera Australia’s finest young singers, a live chamber orchestra and a special children’s chorus selected from schools across the Tweed Valley. Set in 1930′s Egypt, this rollicking adventure sees Tamino the daring archaeologist and his sidekick Papageno solve puzzles and face mummies in their quest for wisdom and true love.

Sung in English, this is a night out for the whole family. Be a part of this special intimate performance when it arrives in Murwillumbah August 30.

The Magic Flute is lasts for approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes with a 20 minute Interval.

Welcome to the 2nd annual Misty Mountain Trail Run event.  Run inside a giant shield volcano!  This is a fun and challenging event open to all ages 12 years+.

The Misty Mountain Trail Run (Inter-action/Outward bound/Mebbin springs) 3000 acre private property is inside the magnificent Wollumbin (Mt Warning) volcanic caldera. This stunning area encompasses the massive 20 million year old shield volcano with surrounding views of the outer rim in every direction. From this area you can clearly see Mt Warning (Wollumbin) and the impressive 600m high crater wall reaching up into the Border Ranges National Park.

This is a running event but we welcome anyone who wishes to Walk or Speed/Walk the events. The walkers will start in a wave behind the runners wave.

Tyalgum Music Festival

The Tyalgum Music Festival will be held on 12-14 September this year, once again drawing music lovers from all around Queensland and New South Wales to Coolman Street.

This year’s program will include seven wonderful Main Hall concerts – a chance to hear world-class artists in the excellent acoustics and intimate setting of our Century-old Tyalgum Community Hall. An array of outdoor events and  surrounding venues are also planned to make for a wonderful weekend of entertainment

Featuring Australia’s premiere vocal ensemble, the Song Company and the Lunaire Collective together with Brisbane’s  Jazz Trio Trichotomy present “Illuminations”. Tamara Anna Cislowska will appear as solo piano recitalist and together with violinist, Anna McMichael will perform a Lullaby programme with film that recently received 4 stars in The Australian and Limelight and Cd of the week on ABC Classic fm. Other guests include the Queensland Conservatorium Brazilian Jazz Band and a Festival Closing Gala featuring the Camerata of St. Johns performing the final celebration concert on Sunday 14th September. They are a much loved group at the Tyalgum Music Festival and by popular demand we are very happy to welcome them back!

The Pop Up Gallery is a quintessentially Tweed hinterland experience. Located in a beautiful old Queenslander on the banks of the Tweed River you can releax and enjoy inspiring views to Wollumbin Mt Warning.

Commended visual artist Amelia  Batchelor, currently working with the Escape Gallery in Murwillumbah, is organising this year’s Pop Up Gallery for Tweed Fusion. Amelia joined the Brisbane art scene in the mid 1990s. Arts has lead her on a journey of discovery, meeting new people, experiencing different cultures and appreciating the world’s diverse arts collection. Amelia’s passion and inspiration will be on display at this years Pop Up Gallery.

Enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat on the wide verandah or soak up the spring sunshine on the lawns spilling down to the river. Browse through the Pop Up Gallery that will feature the beautiful work of local artisans. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet local artists and watch landscape art & sculpture master classes by artists Andy Reimanis, Barbara Suttie and sculptor Marie-France Rose.

Coastal Creations

Coastal Creations

Showcasing the arts, music and beach culture of the Tweed, Coastal Creations is takes art and sculpture out of the gallery and onto the beach so that you can walk and contemplate artworks juxtaposed with Australia’s natural coastal surrounding.

The event will incorporate the spectacular Pandanus Parade to Norries Headland coastal walk, it will be transformed into a 2km temporary gallery featuring sculptures, performers, buskers and artists going from The Beach Resort, through the nature corridor, over the hill through Norries Park and ending at Norries Headland.

Enjoy the entertainment and art in the park and take the 400m walk to to the top of the Headland where you can relax in the sun on the new timber viewing platform. You might even catch a glimpse of the whales as they migrate  back to Antarctica.

The main event in the park at Norries Headland will include a bazaar of local artisans and designers plus other activities and displays with a focus on coastal life.

This is a free event developed for Tweed Fusion by the collective at Caba Creative.

Experience an intimate dinner, fine music, conversation and conviviality in the spirit of Margret Olley’s table.

Arrive to canapés, drinks and the music of Ensemble Piacere (harp, flute, violin and cello).

Enjoy a personal tour of the Margaret Olley Art Centre by Curator Ingrid Hedgcock before stting down to a dinner that will showcase and share some of Margaret’s favourite food made from fresh Tweed Valley produce.

During dinner enjoy listening to Ingrid in conversation with Christine France – an art historian, Margaret’s close friend, biographer and co-executor of her estate.

Last year’s inaugural Tweed Fusion Sunday Country Picnic was hailed by many as the best Tweed food event they had ever attended.  The picnic makes a welcome return on Sunday 5 October and you’re invited to  board the coach where you will be transported to a ‘secret location’ somewhere within the ancient caldera.

Arrive at the secret location to sweeping views and magical music by Ensemble Piacere (harp, flute. cello and violin).

Highly commended Murwillumbah chef Jonathon Evans from Ju Ju’s Café will create a sumptuous Tweed-inspired menu, laid out on white clothed tables with all the trimmings in a picture-perfect Tweed caldera landscape setting.

Tickets for the picnic include transfers from Kingscliff and Murwillumbah, glass of bubbles on arrival and wine with lunch. Bookings are essential as numbers strictly limited to ensure we are able to provide relaxed Tweed Valley hospitality.

The 114th Murwillumbah Show is on the 31st October and 1st November 2014.  There will be plenty of free entertainment available with live bands playing on both Friday and Saturday nights, a Rodeo on Friday night and a trotting programme on Saturday afternoon just to name a few.  Come along and enjoy sideshow alley and the amazing fireworks display on Saturday evening.

The local youth are encouraged to get involved with many activities designed for the young including the Junior Led Steer competition, the Showgirl and Junior Showgirl competitions, a Young Farmers Challenge, Pavilion displays and the ever popular School’s relay on Friday.

The normal show interests will be there – dogs, beef cattle, commercial cattle, dairy cattle, horses, showjumping, arts and crafts, sheep shearing, stud sheep, poultry, livestock, sugar cane, bananas, etc.

Event promoters QSMSports will stage the 10th edition of the Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Multisport Weekend on 22 and 23 November 2014. The two-day event will take place on the beachside of Kingscliff and entries are now open.

There are twelve event categories on offer to cater for everyone, no matter age or fitness level. Tempta and Sprint distances are perfect for those who are not quite ready to tackle the full Olympic distance. Participants can also choose to only compete in one leg in the Olympic or Sprint Relays.

The popular ‘5km Fun Run’ and the ‘62km Social Ride’ will be held on the first day (Saturday 22 November), and welcomes both experienced runners and beginners. The title gives it away… it’s all about having fun, and enjoying the great atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

The ‘Kingy Tri’ caters for kids too, with two activities for children between the ages of 7 and 12. All kids will receive a participation medal and event t-shirt for their efforts.

- Tyalgum will start with their traditional street parade, followed by  traditional cricket match which will be played at Bruce Bartrim Oval and the day’s final event will be the Tyalgum Cup Cycle race starting in front of Tyalgum Store.

-  Pottsville will hold a family and community fun and games day. Pottsville Beach Sports Club will also host a number of family oriented events culminating in an award presentation at the end of the day’s proceedings.

- Tweed Heads’ Chris Cunningham Park will be the location for a number of special community events featuring a range of activities for kids of all ages.

Kingscliff Triathlon

Event promoters QSMSports will stage the 11th edition of the Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Multisport Weekend on 14 and 15 February 2015. The two-day event will take place on the beachside of Kingscliff and entries are now open.

There are twelve event categories on offer to cater for everyone, no matter age or fitness level. Tempta and Sprint distances are perfect for those who are not quite ready to tackle the full Olympic distance. Participants can also choose to only compete in one leg in the Olympic or Sprint Relays.

The popular ‘5km Fun Run’ and the ‘62km Social Ride’ will be held on the first day (Saturday 22 November), and welcomes both experienced runners and beginners. The title gives it away… it’s all about having fun, and enjoying the great atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

The ‘Kingy Tri’ caters for kids too, with two activities for children between the ages of 7 and 12. All kids will receive a participation medal and event t-shirt for their efforts.
