Belinda Wollaston: The Music of Judy Garland

Hearts Aflame Productions and Lambert House Enterprises in association with Hayes Theatre Co present this exciting new event…

Fresh from her London triumphs in the new hit musical play Through the Mill about the life and times of Judy Garland, acclaimed Australian music theatre performer and actor Belinda Wollaston returns briefly to Australia for a month in March, before returning to London for another season of the hit play on Garland’s life.

For one night only, Belinda will present at the Tyalgum Hall on Saturday 18 March at 8pm a cabaret show based around the songs of Judy Garland. Belinda will tell stories of the show, stories of the remarkable Garland and how the show has affected her life in an intimate stripped back cabaret setting.

A recent London review of Belinda’s work summed it up in saying: “I’d die happy if I could press Belinda Wollaston’s voice to brand new vinyl, lie back in an empty room, and play it loudly on a loop for the rest of my life.”

Under the musical direction of Helpmann Award nominee Andrew Worboys and featuring special guest Shaun Rennie, this is set to be one of the highlights of the Tyalgum events calender for 2017.

Belinda is currently nominated for Broadway World’s Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Previously, Belinda appeared at the Union Theatre in The Spitfire Grill, which won her the Craig Dodd Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Before leaving for London, Belinda has a strong and exciting music theatre career in Australia performing leads in shows such as Titanic, Summer Rain (STC) , Mame (TPC), Respect, Mamma Mia and Shane Warne the Musical.

This one night only performance is a rare chance to see Belinda perform in her own country, before she returns to further engagements in London.

Pre-show dinner @ Flutterbies Cafe from 6pm.  Doors open at Tyalgum Hall 7:30 for 8pm start.

Salon de Sketchy

Here’s an art class experience with a difference: an adults-only life drawing evening where the models are performers from the worlds of burlesque, circus, striptease, music, dance, theatre, and various exotic subcultures.

Hosted monthly in Sugarmill Studio in Murwillumbah, these self-guided life drawing events feature 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute static model poses, where you draw at your own pace in a relaxed, fun atmosphere with mellow music.

The audience also gets to see the model perform a live five-minute show – it could be a fan dance, a striptease, or a handstand balancing act.

You don’t have to be an artist to join in at Salon de Sketchy, beginners are welcome! Please bring your own pencils and paper.

We have had some amazing artists so far this year! Burlesque artists Lena Marlene and Cello Bordello, hula hoop artist Ginger Spin Ninja, handstand artist Li Pawson, circus artist Sera Tonin and Blueberry the clown.  All in downtown Murwillumbah!
