Mt Warning Cycling Spectacular
28 April 2017 - 1 May 2017

Mt Warning Cycling Spectacular

A weekend all about the bike, featuring some of the most challenging riding in Australia… set amongst an idyllic mountain backdrop.

For 2017 we are excited to be welcoming the National Road Series for both men and women, the classic Battle on the Border graded tour, a new Challenge on the Border age group program and Legends Tour, and expanded Fondo social rides including the new FamFondo on closed roads.

Our new home base at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds brings a number of integrated travel, accommodation (glamping), and dining options and we are excited about the new partnerships we are forming to create an exciting space that celebrates the Tweed Valley’s food, drink, and culture.

Film screening: A Plastic Ocean
29 April 2017

Film screening: A Plastic Ocean

Let’s Waste Less is excited to invite you to our fundraising launch and special one-off screening of A Plastic Ocean followed by a Q&A session, from 6pm on Saturday 29 April.

Don’t miss this award-winning film that Sir David Attenborough calls ‘the most important film of our time’, which focuses on the impact of plastic in our oceans, marine life and our own health.

To reserve your tickets, please visit the Demand Film event page. Unlike a traditional movie showing, this Demand Film screening requires that 50 more tickets be reserved in the next 39 days for the screening to go ahead.

We have a full evening of entertainment in store, including ocean-inspired art installations, music, welcome to country and luscious locally made morsels courtesy of JuJu’s and New Leaf Cafe. Drinks, including local Stone & Wood ales, will also be available for purchase and we have some amazing sponsor-donated prizes to win.

The film will be followed by a Q&A discussion with Tarra Martel, Environmental Education Officer, Tweed Shire Council; Jeanie McKillop, Coordinator North East Waste, Jordyn de Boer Co-founder Boomerang Bags. This is your opportunity to find out about exciting waste initiatives like the introduction of compost bins in July, the Container Deposit Scheme, due in December and to find out more about Boomerang Bags and learn about what can and can’t be recycled in Tweed Shire.

We need your support to make sure this event happens and to make sure this important film is seen. We’d love to see you in the audience, and we’d really appreciate your help in spreading the word among your friends and networks. Thanks for all your support!

Program details:

  • Drinks and nibbles 6-6.45pm
  • Film screening: 6.45- 8.30pm
  • Q&A panel: 8.45-9.45pm

1700: Into the Temple Exhibition
12 May 2017

1700: Into the Temple Exhibition

Join us for a glass of champagne at the OSIRIS exhibition opening

1700: Into the Temple is a very special collection of works that have been crafted upon an ancient, sacred smithing anvil that found it’s way home to the OSIRIS studio at the beginning of this year.

The body of work emerges from this current of ancientness, and echoes symbolisms and stories of times, when adornments were empowered by sacred mysticisms and rituals.

The pieces are handrafted from sterling silver and gold, and feature Lapis Lazuli that have been hand cut for each piece. Lapis Lazuli is a stone of spirituality, holding the current of Truth and Enlightenment. A stone of spiritual royalty and intuition. It’s chakra is Third Eye and it’s element is Water.

“I wanted to construct pieces that spoke of Ancientness, that told the stories that are embedded still in the depths of our Consciousness; relics of our archaeologies emerging at this End Time… We are alive as the Collective Consciousness and perfect summary of all of our lifetimes, for the sake of Understanding. These sliding doors of the Ages move constantly, as Mists of Time, as we seek Self Knowledge and Remembrance of the Truth of Us as Only God..” – OSIRIS

Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing

Flutterbies presents its third immersive Shakespeare production with The Bard’s most loved romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

Claudio and Hero are deeply in love. Beatrice and Benedick are deeply in denial. All is well. Then Claudio humiliates Hero. Hero has a fainting attack and pretends to die. And Beatrice and Benedick join forces with a vengeance. And that’s just up to the interval! If it sounds complicated, well, that’s love for you – a trip down the aisle is never a straight one. When you delve into other people’s relationships you soon learn the real cost of commitment – what we will do and what we won’t do for that capricious and often elusive thing called love.

With its unique charm and quick wit, Much Ado About Nothing is sure to be a great night of entertainment for everyone.

Bookings essential as seating is limited. Ticket price includes banquet style dinner, a glass of mulled wine on arrival and the play.  Call 02 6679 3221 to book your table.

Salon de Sketchy

Here’s an art class experience with a difference: an adults-only life drawing evening where the models are performers from the worlds of burlesque, circus, striptease, music, dance, theatre, and various exotic subcultures.

Hosted monthly in Sugarmill Studio in Murwillumbah, these self-guided life drawing events feature 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute static model poses, where you draw at your own pace in a relaxed, fun atmosphere with mellow music.

The audience also gets to see the model perform a live five-minute show – it could be a fan dance, a striptease, or a handstand balancing act.

You don’t have to be an artist to join in at Salon de Sketchy, beginners are welcome! Please bring your own pencils and paper.

We have had some amazing artists so far this year! Burlesque artists Lena Marlene and Cello Bordello, hula hoop artist Ginger Spin Ninja, handstand artist Li Pawson, circus artist Sera Tonin and Blueberry the clown.  All in downtown Murwillumbah!
