Nature + ECO

Nature + ECO

Discover the natural beauty of the Tweed , an unspoilt playground of spectacular sights and scenery unlike anywhere else on earth.

The Tweed is one of the richest and most diverse regions for flora and fauna in Australia and you can experience the beauty and diversity of the Tweed first hand as you walk among ancient Antarctic Beech trees in the Tweed Valley or explore wild coastlines on the Tweed Coast. Take in the stunning panoramic views of the ancient volcanic caldera from the top of Wollumbin Mt Warning or dive under the ocean and discover rich aquatic playgrounds.

Nominated by Tourism Australia as one of the National LandscapesAustralia’s Green Cauldron – the Tweed lies at the very heart of Australia’s Green Cauldron National Landscape and celebrates a  unique volcanic geography. Wollumbin Mt Warning stands 1156m high (only half of it’s original height). The summit is a 4.4km hike through lush rainforest. Thanks to its proximity to Cape Byron, Australia’s most easterly point, it is the first place on mainland Australia to receive the sun’s rays each day.

In addition to Wollumbin Mt Warning, the Tweed proudly boasts 14 National Parks and Reserves which collectively form the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. They also incorporate hundreds of kilometres of bushwalking trails, ranging from short strolls (less than 500m) to three-day overnight hikes. In these areas you can get up close to the local native plants and wildlife, explore wide open spaces and discover ancient rainforests on the fringe of quaint towns and villages.

Breathe the cleanest, air you’ll ever experience, and soak up the tranquility. Create your own adventure and explore on your own or book a personalised guided tour and experience the secrets of the Tweed.

It’s great to escape city life and go bushwalking, picnicking or cycling in national parks and reserves. However, these are natural environments so you need to take some precautions – please read this information when planning your adventure.
