Tasting the Gibbum Chefs Cruise presented by Tweed Eco Cruises will take you cruising along the scenic Tweed River (departing from Tweed Marina) you will see stunning natural landscapes, learn Aboriginal stories, history and harvesting traditions from Currie Country while chefs from Pipit Restaurant will create a new menu to match the produce stories.
Gibbum (moon) affects all the ecosystems, and full moons are traditionally an active joyous time on the Tweed River. There is a lot of feeding movement and growth, fat jubei, bigger fish in closer, and fattest yugari and kinyingarra at this time. These subtle changes and abundance in local produce is the gift from Gibbum, and this last full moon of November (30 November) is the beginning of the best Gibbum eating – which means good eating from the rivers.
The cruise and lunch menu will focus on: Kinyingarra (oysters), yugari (pipis), jubei (crab), garragull (grass tree), kelp seaweed and other coastal plants.
Much like the open plan kitchen of Pipit, this event will also give you open access to also see live cooking and hear commentary directly from chefs. This exclusive small group experience (max 35) will include a range of canapes, taster plates, dessert, and wines from Pipit.
