Tweed Ball Series 2018

Tweed Ball Series Background

This is the 47th year of the Tweed Ball Series run by the Tweed Combined Country Halls Association, a voluntary group that runs the series not-for–profit, with the proceeds going to the local Hall.  There are nine Balls in the series this year and we look forward to meeting new and familiar faces on the dance floor.

The evenings start at 8pm and tickets are available at the door, adults $10, 13-17 years $5, 3-12 years $2, this includes supper.  The evening is planned to have something for all the family with no alcohol.  The dances are mainly ‘old time’ with a few new vogue, a short set of rock’n’roll, and some old favourite line dances.  The dress code is semi-formal, but many of the girls go formal.  You may participate in the title dance which is a Pride of Erin, or choose to just watch.  After the titles dance there is a supper break provided by the local hall included in your admission price.  The evenings conclude between 11.30 and midnight.  The live music is provided by the band Trilogy.

For those interested in entering the competition they need to be prepared to attend the Final Ball on August 11th 2018, and if declared the Tweed winners come to the Series in 2019.  The age and categories are;
Tiny Tot Miss to 9 years inclusive
Tiny Tot Beau to 9 years inclusive
Junior Miss 10 to 14 years inclusive
Junior Beau 10 to 14 years inclusive
Matron is open aged
Senior Beau is 15 years and up
Miss is 15 years and up.
These titles are open for every Ball of the Series.   There will be sashes presented to the girls and medallions to the boys, with a small gift on winning a title.   There will be trophies available at the Final Ball.

There are eight Guidelines for the competition;
a)     Individual hall section winner is not allowed to enter in more than one title of the series in one year.
b)     Each entrant in the final ball must wear a sash or medallion from the nominating hall
c)     Winners of the above sections are now eligible to compete again after completing their reigning year.
d)     Individual hall committees conduct their own ball
e)     The final ball is conducted by the Tweed Combined Country Halls Association Inc.
f)     Final ball winners should attend as many balls as possible the following year as section winners to lead off their respective sections.
g)     Winners of the Miss Tweed section at each hall are to be given an invitation to the final ball from T.C.C.H.A.I.  This invitation is to be given to participating halls so that it can be included with the winning presentation.
h)   The T.C.C.H.A.I.  expect all winners in each section to attend the Final Ball.
