Caldera Art Gallery

< Back

Conveniently located within the Murwillumbah Visitor Information Centre and on the banks of the picturesque Tweed River, the Caldera Art Gallery showcases the work of accomplished landscape and wildlife artists.

The proximity of Wollumbin Mt Warning and other significant World Heritage listed national parks inspire local artists to share their interpretation and stories with visitors wanting to know more about this fascinating ancient landscape known as Australia’s Green Cauldron, and the superb biodiversity within. Interaction with ‘artists-in-residence’ working within this dynamic gallery space is encouraged.

The star attraction is the stunning 20 metre long Green Cauldron panorama painting (a 360 degree virtual view of the Tweed caldera from the summit of Wollumbin Mt Warning) created by Andy Reimanis and a team of talented local artists. A year in the making, this painting boasts accurate geographic detail as well as the birds of prey of the Tweed region.

For anybody seeking an authentic and relevant visual arts experience, the Caldera Art Gallery is well worth a visit. Entry is free and the Gallery is open 7 days a week from 9.30am-4pm (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).
